100310_sectioning mesh

script adds a grey scale sectioning planes (meshes) through objects. Created for use as a base to populate various components based on the grey value of plane.

100207_interactive pt1

we're beginning to do some arduino tests with a servo and ir proximity sensor for possible use in a new performance installation (nov.04-26) at the lab gallery in nyc. (a collaboration between e+i architecture and nuDance theater)

a special thanks to the amazing choreographer/dancers eva perotta and sophie bortolussi for inviting us to collaborate!

091217_meshCones

this definition takes a triangulated mesh and builds a cone oculus on each face. an adjustable attractor point is created based on the mesh bounding box. the extrusion height and opening sizes of the cones are based on the distance from each face to the attractor point.

091029_struts

the base geometry here was cut out from one of the earlier isosurf mesh tests. two of the each triangle edge is piped with a constant thin member and a thicker member related to the highest pt of the bounding box. it has a "modulus" component in the stream, so they end up looking kind of random. anyways, the plan is to contour this network of variably thickned pipes and feed it back through isosurf..

091025_isosurf

These are some isosurfacing tests brought into rhino for use as a base geometry in grasshopper.
The seed images were generated in Processing from a simple sketch that captures some grey scale images and then compiling that series of images with IsoSurf to extract various meshes.

090807_copy2edges

well i haven't had much time to post anything in a while, but i did get a chance today to get back to some experimenting. i wrote this script which uses the mesh counterpart of a nurbs surface to populate and scale a set of objects. it orients the objects using the mesh edges as alignment targets. (note that a mesh with many excessive polygons will slow things down.) it's a pretty simple procedure, but it may be more interesting to use it to set up a scaffold for something more complex..

090428_apertures

i was revisting one of my old scripts which extrudes an oculus based on the direction of a sun vector. this time i copied the base surface a number of time and ran the script with a different angle of each base surface. the final object has all of them superimposed and color coded..
